Police investigate possible Molotov cocktail thrown at Galivants Ferry home

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Two people were woken early Saturday morning by a Molotov cocktail at a Galivants Ferry home, according to a Horry County Police report.

HCPD responded to a call where a victim stated that he heard a loud "boom" and found another victim's bedroom in the house on fire.

The victim said that a Molotov cocktail was thrown through the other victim's bedroom window. He stated that he and the other victim in the house put out the fire, according to the police report. Upon exiting the home, one of the victims' vehicles was on fire.

Two clear glass Smirnoff bottles were discovered at the scene, partially filled with liquid and a cloth protruding from the bottle openings.

According to the police report, the victim stated that one bottle was found inside his Jeep and the other was in the bedroom.

The victim could not offer any leads as to who may have committed the crime. However, the other victim in the house said that there were two individuals that he had conflict with in the past. He said that those were the only people he could think of who may have had motive to commit the crime.

No injuries were reported, according to the police report.

The incident is under investigation by the Horry County Police Department.
