The City of Myrtle Beach has the following job openings for the week of September 7, 2014. The Human Resources Department is in the City Services Building, 921A Oak Street. The mailing address is P. PARAMEDIC/FIREFIGHTER – Fire Department. Perform technical and specialized work functions associated with preparing for and responding to medical, rescue, and disaster emergency calls. Requires high school diploma or equivalent and have valid certifications including: South Carolina or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (E.M.T – P), High school graduation or equivalent. Must pass Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT), be 18 years old and meet all departmental pre-employment standards. Must possess a valid driver's license with ability to obtain a South Carolina DL within 60 days. RESUMES NOT ACCEPTED without completed application. FACILITIES ENGINEER TECHNICIAN – Convention Center. Duties include but are not limited to setting up equipment and electrical components for Convention/Trade Show; installs microphones and sound equipment; installs, repairs and maintains electrical systems, wireless internet, schedules and maintains HVAC, assists with painting, plumbing, carpentry, door repairs and collects payments from vendors providing electrical services. Must be able to work varying shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. Journeyman Electrical License is a plus. Requires High School education or equivalent, experience in building maintenance, customer service or related field, be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license. W/S MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN, SR – Public Works Department/ Construction Division. Repairs and maintains water and sewer lines, meters and hydrants, plus related duties as assigned. Must possess ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school and some experience as a laborer in the maintenance, repair, and/or construction of utility lines, be at least 18 years old and a valid commercial driver's license is preferred. Looking for high energy, assertive individuals able to lead a variety of public recreational and fitness activities. Group instruction experience and current certifications in multiple fitness genres and CPR Certification preferred. BUILDING INSPECTOR – Construction Services Department. Conducts field inspections for code compliance of residential, multi family and/or commercial structures including building, electrical, framing, footing/slabs, HVAC, plumbing, insulation, and other related duties as required. Requires a Vocational/Technical Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing Systems, Construction or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience in building inspection, code enforcement, construction or related field, be at least 18 years old and valid driver's license. MAINTENANCE WORKER/TEMP – Temporary/Part-Time position for general employment pool of custodial and semi-skilled applicants to perform various types of building maintenance and/or ground maintenance at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Duties include general housekeeping, maintenance, stage and room set-ups, electrical and/or general landscaping, mowing, raking, edging, planting, picking up litter, etc. Must be at least 18 years old and available to work all shifts, hours, Monday – Sunday.
