EXTRA POINT Week Two Cheat Sheet

As the high school football season trudges on, here is your cheat sheet to get you prepped for Week Two games.

Four matchups to watch for:

Myrtle Beach at West Florence (Thursday night). Always entertaining when these two teams meet up early in the season. The Seahawks are perennial state champs once again, and the Knights started the season 1-0 behind the all-everything skill of Marquane Goodman in Week One.

Conway at Socastee. Our Game of the Week, it's the first of two matchups between these two squads. They'll do it for real (counting toward region play) on October 17th.

Marlboro County at Scotland County. A border battle between two great teams, in a matchup that never is easy for either side.

Timmonsville at Lamar. Both are 1-1, but these are two teams that had great playoff runs a season ago. Quan Brown and Lamar have a quick moving offense, and the Whirlwinds never cease to stop moving once they take the ball. Should have a lot of fireworks in this one.

Rewinding the clock a little bit....

Week One noteworthy performances: Janarick Reed, Marion. The Swamp Foxes are out to a 2-0 start for the first time in a while and Reed plays a big part in that. In their second win of the season, he had 167 rush yards, a touchdown and also threw for a score. Things get tougher with a trip to Manning on Friday.

Brandon Sinclair, Myrtle Beach. Winning MVP honors of the Seahawks' Carolinas Kickoff Clash game, it was business as usual with 100+ yards and a couple touchdowns. He and the Seahawks look primed for a big year once again.

But don't forget about Primetime Performer nominees Aryon Dudley (Hartsville), Avery McCall (Dillon) and Melquan Depugh (Darlington). You can vote for them right on the sports page of WMBFNews.com
