Police: Man flees after drugs fall out his pants in Atlantic Beach

ATLANTIC BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A suspect is on the run after police say drugs fell out his pants at a traffic stop Tuesday.

The incident happened at 2 p.m. in Atlantic Beach, according to Chief Timothy Taylor.

The vehicle stopped at an apartment complex on 31st Ave South.

The passenger had a large amount of crack cocaine and about 60 bags of heroin that fell out of his pants when he got out of the vehicle, Taylor said.

As police tried to put the suspect in cuffs, the man fled on foot, Taylor explained.

The Horry County Police Department brought tracking dogs to locate the man, but the canine units lost the scent, according to Taylor.

Police are not releasing the suspect's name but did say the man is a Myrtle Beach resident.
