Florence Police looking for suspect in early morning shooting

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – Police are searching for a suspect after one man was shot on South Church Street in Florence early Tuesday morning, according to Florence Police Chief Allen Heidler.

At about 1:40 a.m., a person standing outside in the 400 block of Church Street was approached by a male who asked the victim a question, and then shot him, Chief Heidler said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the lower part of his body, Chief Heidler said.

The suspect is described as a 30-year-old black male wearing a red shirt and blue jeans, according to Chief Heidler. Police are asking anyone with additional information to call the Florence Police Department at 843-665-3191 or Crime Stoppers of the Pee Dee at 843-667-8477.
