Manhunt concluded in Florence County, suspect in custody

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A manhunt in Florence County concluded Saturday after deputies located Larry Coles, 31, of Johnsonville hiding in a dwelling on East Highway 378, according to Captain Michael Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies attempted a traffic stop Friday morning on a vehicle on Pamplico Highway in which Coles was a passenger.

When the vehicle came to a stop, Coles fled on foot into a heavily wooded area near Salem Road. Coles was known to be a person of interest sought for questioning in the disappearance of a missing person from Johnsonville, according Captain Nunn.

Coles was taken into custody and is currently charged with one count of burglary in the second degree and simple larceny.

In addition, Coles is wanted on an arrest warrant out of Georgetown County.

The incident is still under investigation and Coles could face more charges in the future.
