Myrtle Beach is FlipKey’s top place to visit during fall

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach is listed as the top destination to visit during the fall shoulder season by FlipKey, a vacation rental website.

FlipKey, which is owned by TripAdvisor, based their findings on the nightly price for properties on its site where travelers can save the most money.

Travelers can save up to 43 percent on a vacation rental property when visiting Myrtle Beach September through November, according to FlipKey. The average cost per night during the shoulder season is $104 compared to $182 per night during the summer.

"Besides the wealth of world-class attractions, fantastic golf and delicious cuisine, the primary component that makes the Myrtle Beach area such a wonderful family destination is its affordable accommodations," said Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce. "We want the wonderful momentum we saw during the summer months to continue on into our fall shoulder season."

The following are the five destinations to visit during fall 2014 to save money on a vacation rental, according to FlipKey:

1. Myrtle Beach, S.C.

2. Hamptons, N.Y.

3. Charleston, S.C.

4. Hilton Head, S.C.

5. Catskills, N.Y.

FlipKey also listed Myrtle Beach as one of the top three most popular summer vacation destinations for 2014.
