SUMMERVILLE, SC (WMBF) - A press conference for the Myrtle Beach Police Department, regarding a shooting during Memorial Day weekend, will be held in Summerville.
The Summerville Police Department will host the conference Wednesday, August 20 at 1 p.m. on West 2nd North Street, Captain Jon Rogers confirmed.
"The conference will involve the incident on May 24, at approximately 11 p.m. when officers of the Myrtle Beach Police Department responded to a report of a large fight in the street in front of the Bermuda Sands," a news release, issued by the Summerville PD states.
The following information was stated in the news release:
Prior to officers' arrival, three shots were fired by a black male wearing black pants and a white shirt with writing on the front, striking victim Keith Williams. Subjects involved in the fight subsequently fled into the hotel onto the second floor. As officers were tending to the victim an offender went to the second floor and fired multiple shots striking and killing Devonte Dantzler, Jamie Williams, and Sandra Gaddis Barnwell. As noted during the initial press coverage the victims were from the Summerville area and the Myrtle Beach Police Department is seeking information on the murders.
According to an interview with MBPD Captain Knipes, one month following the Memorial Day shootings, no breaks had been made in the case when it comes to the shooting that happened at the Bermuda Sands Hotel.
