CALABASH, NC (WMBF) –Calabash fire officials are working to determine the cause of a late night fire on Nance Street.
Fire fighters arrived Saturday at 11:36 p.m. to the Coleman's restaurant where the structure was up in flames.
Once officials arrived on the scene smoke was pouring from the roof. The flames then broke through the roof of the one story structure.
Firefighters battled to control the blaze for more than an hour. Damage to the front portion and roof of the property was severe, but authorities were able to save many of the business owners' irreplaceable family pictures and mementos.
The Calabash Fire Department was assisted by Sunset Beach, Grissettown & Longwood, and Horry County Fire Departments, as well as Calabash and Brunswick County EMS and the Ocean Isle Fire Department, which were on standby.
