FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - A Florence woman has been arrested after cashing a check for more than $10,000 that wasn't hers, according to authorities.
Dana Elizabeth Howell, 36, was charged with one count of breach of trust with fraudulent intent, value $10,000 or more, according to a SLED news release.
Howell cashed the check for $11,646 on Friday, July 18. The check was made out to Darlington County Progress, Inc.
SLED investigated the case at the request of the Darlington Police Department.
Howell was booked at the Darlington County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the Fourth Circuit Solicitor's Office. The charge is a felony with a penalty upon conviction of up to 10 years in prison or a fine to be determined by the court.
