Deer season opens for bowhunters in Horry, Georgetown counties

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The first day of deer season arrives August 15 for Horry and Georgetown County bowhunters.

In Horry and Georgetown counties, bowhunters may take their first shot mid-August, while hunters in the Pee Dee have to wait until September.

Bucks are the only game allowed to be hunted on private lands, and there is no limit on antlered deer, according to SCDNR.

The first day of deer season for bowhunters in Marion, Dillon, Marlboro and Florence counties is September 1.
