HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – One person was shot and another was injured at The French Quarters in Atlantic Beach Wednesday night; police continue to investigate and have not yet made any arrests.

Horry County Police officers responded to the 600 block of 30th Avenue South for reports of the shooting at about 9:10 p.m. Wednesday and talked to a woman with an apparent injury to her upper lip and blood covering her shirt, according to the police report. She said the suspect had pistol-whipped her in the face.

The female victim described the suspect as 6-foot-2-inch tall black man with albino patches of skin pigmentation on his face and arms.

Officers then walked to the apartment where the shooting was reported, and found the shooting victim on the floor with an obvious gunshot wound to the lower abdomen, according to the report. He was conscious, but in too much pain to talk to police. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police taped off the crime scene, and while on scene, several people told officers that the shooting victim allegedly pulled a knife on the suspect. However, no knife was recovered at the scene, the police report states.

As of Thursday evening, police had not made any arrests, but were developing some leads, said Lt. Robert Kegler with HCPD. They are not certain about any possible suspects at this point.
