Horry County to settle for nearly $500K with SunCruz

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A settlement between Horry County and SunCruz Casino is scheduled to take place this week for nearly half a million dollars.

The county required the casino boat company charge a boarding fee during its operations. SunCruz stopped paying the county years ago, County Attorney Arrigo Carotti explained at the meeting Tuesday night.

In January 2014, Big M began talking about taking over SunCruz, which the plans are still in the works to do so.

The county plans to settle for $484,272.

The closing is scheduled to take place no later than August 15.

SunCruz stopped its operations Monday, July 28.
