Marlboro County Pigskin Preview

Class 3A, Region VI

2013 Record: 11-3, Lost to Myrtle Beach in Class 3A Lower State Finals

2014 Season Opener: August 29th vs. Richmond County (N.C.), 7:30 (at Doug Shaw Stadium)

Key Returners: London Johnson, QB. The senior is the defending Region Player of the Year in a stacked house that included firepower offenses of Hartsville, Darlington and Crestwood. He threw for more than 3,000 yards and 30 touchdowns. Three of his offensive linemen are also back in the mix this year.

Key Losses: The majority of the defense must be replaced, and with a lot of youth on the team. 10 of 11 starters are departed from last year's defense that really helped keep the Bulldogs in a lot of games.

Look out for them Saturdays: Johnson has had quite a few suitors come his way already, and should be garnering the attention of more FBS schools with a good season. Defensive Back Trey Woods is the lone returning defensive starter, and has a chance to show great leadership with this unit. Wide receiver Tabari Hines has transferred over from South Florence for this season, and the Wake Forest commit should bolster the offense significantly.
