HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - State lawmakers have passed a law to put a stop to drivers who drive past a stopped school bus.
School buses in Horry County will be equipped with exterior cameras, so police will be able to review the video to help find culprits.
Horry County Bus Drivers said the violations happen more often than one might think. Drivers saw 80 violations during a two-day period last school year.
Violators will face a minimum $500 fee, plus six license points on a first misdemeanor conviction, which increases to a $2,000 minimum fee on additional convictions. Penalties are higher when injury results.
