KINGSTREE, SC (WMBF) - A one man has been taken into custody for multiple charges after assaulting a South Carolina State Trooper.

A South Carolina State Trooper pulled over a green 1996 Toyota Camry early Saturday morning in Kingstree, SC.

While conducting the traffic stop, the trooper requested the driver, Dwayne Brown, 32, of Myrtle Beach to exit the vehicle.

Upon attempting to place Brown under arrest, he refused to comply and a physical altercation took place between Brown and the trooper, according to the police report.

Brown pulled out a small caliber handgun and discharged one round at the trooper. He then fled the scene on foot, according to the police report.

Brown was taken to the Williamsburg County Sheriff's Officer Sunday night by his attorney.

Brown is in custody and will be charged with unlawful carry of a firearm, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, possession of a weapon by an unlawful person, DUI, and resisting arrest with deadly violence.
