MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The Myrtle Beach Fire Department has a ladder truck for sale. The 2002 Pierce Dash 75ft; medium duty ladder truck is one of the older fire truck the city has kept as a spare, City Spokesman Mark Kruea said.
The city currently leases or purchases new trucks every seven years or so, but keeps a spare or two, he said.
Five new engines, also called pumpers, and a new 100-foot aerial platform truck have been ordered. The new equipment is expected to arrive in May 2015, to replace similar equipment from the 2008 time frame.
The cost of the new vehicles is $2.8 million for the five engines, which calculates about $560,000 apiece and $809,000 for the aerial truck, or roughly $3.6 million in all.
Bids on the 2002 model will be accepted until January.
