TIMMONSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - Timmonsville Town Council Members voted to give Town Administrator Mary Bines an unpaid leave of absence of two weeks at an emergency meeting Thursday.

The vote was 5-2, Council Member Penny Hayes said.

The vote came after a forensic audit was requested by concerned council members. One day following the request, Bines asked for administrative leave.

An emergency meeting was scheduled by Mayor Darrick Jackson on Thursday. The meeting was held that evening at 7:30 p.m.

Timmonsville Mayor Darrick Jackson says it's the duty of the town council to run the town in the Administrator's absence.

However, town councilmember Penny Hayes says there a town ordinance that states the mayor is responsible for administrative duties in the absence of an administrator.

Mayor Darrick Jackson, says he's not really sure what will happen next week – he doesn't know who will run the town.
