MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A murder suspect has been detained without incident after a male victim was shot to death inside a room at the Wave Rider Resort in Myrtle Beach, authorities confirmed.
Randy E. Banks, 49, died from a gunshot wound to the chest at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, according to Horry County Coroner Robert Edge.
Robert Carl Ware was located off Pridgeon Road and detained by police at about 7 a.m. Thursday, according to Captain David Knipes with Myrtle Beach Police. Ware was found with a gun in a truck in a parking lot of Sterling Village Three.
Banks was shot to death inside a room at the Wave Rider Resort, located at 16th Avenue South. Banks and Ware were acquaintances, according to Captain Knipes.
Coroner Edge said he is only aware of one gunshot wound to Banks. An autopsy will be performed Friday at the Medical University of South Carolina to document the injuries. Coroner Edge believes Banks worked in Georgetown as a plumber.
Ware was taken to Myrtle Beach Jail, and there is no date for a bond hearing at this time.
The Wave Rider Resort is the same location where a man and woman were injured in a shooting during Memorial Weekend this year. That was just 1 of 8 reported shootings during the holiday weekend.
