Back to School: Start dates and tips

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - It's that time of year again: the start of a new school year. The smell of new textbooks, fine line pencils, early morning walks to the bus stop, syllabus week, and backpacks stuffed with new school supplies.

Below is a list of tips that can help you when getting ready to go back to school:

When driving, it is advised to slow down when traveling through school zones.

Here are a few suggested activities to occupy the time of younger children who are not quite old enough to enroll in elementary school.

It's never too early to get your student adjusted to their school bedtime. One teacher even suggested waking them up and walking them all the way to the bus stop by the right time, so they can get acquainted with their walk.

    NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Warrants could be issued as early as Sunday after a Myrtle Beach woman allegedly shot at her ex-boyfriend  and his new girlfriend in the parking lot of Walmart on Highway 17. North Myrtle Beach spokesman Pat Dowling says the incident happened in the parking lot around 1:20 a.m..
