HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - County leaders announced Tuesday it is changing to a new computer system due to tremendous growth.

The new data system, QS1, is headquartered in Spartanburg, according to the county. QS1 serves 29 of the 46 counties in the state. The system will be utilized by the Auditor's Office to deal with:

- Real/Personal and Vehicle tax calculations

- Dealer Affidavits - this is the first time issue of vehicle taxes

- Homestead Applications - Residents who qualify for the legal residence requirement and are 65 years of age and/or who are legally blind or on disability

- Vehicle Valuing for vehicles for an assessed value

- High mileage discounts

The decision was made by council a while back due to the tremendous growth the county has experienced and to better serve Horry County citizens, county leaders said.

The county issued the following statement:
"We know that in any process of change, there may be challenges. We are patiently adjusting ourselves to these changes in order to provide the best possible service to you. We ask for your patience as well throughout this next billing process."
