Goodbye, clipboards; Darlington County School District adds new technology

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The Darlington County School District feels that they must prepare their students to be citizens of this technology-rich, digital world.

According to a news release, teachers in the Darlington County School District will receive an iPad and a MacBook Air for their classrooms as part of the ongoing Darlington County School District technology plan.

Audrey Childers with the Darlington County School District said that the new technology will provide time for teachers to learn to incorporate the technology in their classrooms and lessons in exciting ways.

The Darlington County School District looks forward to see how the new technology can make minds in the classroom expand.

Earlier this year, Horry County School District distributed iPads to middle school students and teachers.

"We are seeing students learning a lot of things that they would have had to wait and rely on a teacher to share with them because they are being allowed to work at a faster rate," said Aynor Middle School Principal Robbie Watkins.

Many agree the program has been a success so far.
