HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Riders of the Carolina Brotherhood bike ride have arrived in Loris.
The Horry County Sheriffs Office and the Loris Fire Department are participating in the Carolina Brotherhood Bike Ride, to raise awareness for those killed in the line of duty. The ride commenced on Thursday. A group of Firefighters and Police Officers are riding their bicycles through Horry County. The participants will travel from Horry County to the county line in Loris, between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. HCSO and Loris Fire will escort them. They will receive dinner and a place to sleep.
This year, the bike ride specifically honors two Horry County heroes. Deputy Tim Causey died of complications of smoke inhalation while working the Windsor Green fire and Assistant Chief Rodney Hardee responded to a fire call in July of 2013 in the Loris Community. He later became ill and died on July 9, 2014. Both were active servicemen for their communities.
The public and media partners are encouraged to come out and welcome the Carolina Brotherhood.
