FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Traffic safety checkpoints will be conducted in Florence and Marion counties through August.
"The Twelfth Circuit Law Enforcement Network consists of all law enforcement agencies in Florence and Marion Counties including State Constables, and is sponsored through the South Carolina Department of Public Safety," the FCSO release states.
The checkpoints will be focused on preventing motor vehicle accidents and motor vehicle violations, including driving under the influence.
So far this year, there have been eight traffic fatalities in Florence County and four in Marion County, according to statistics from the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. Statewide, 304 people have died on the roads this year, 149 of whom were not wearing seat belts.
