CONWAY, SC (WMBF)- A local Domino's was robbed a few weeks ago and now police are seeking public assistance.

According to Conway Police, the robbery took place on Saturday, July 12 at approximately 11:27 p.m.

Conway Police responded to 1223 16th Avenue in Conway after a man helped himself to the register.

The worker tried to stop the man.

"We didn't know he had a gun until after we saw the video. It could have been a lot worse. She could have gotten hurt," explained Domino's General Manager, Justine Power.

The worker had no idea the man was armed. The surveillance video shows the man walking in to the store through their carryout door. Minutes later he leaves frantically.

"He had a bandana across his face. He had his face covered and had a hand gun and demanded all their money," said Lieutenant Selena Small with Conway Police.

The worker said he was standing where anyone else would stand at first, right at the counter but things escalated once he came into the back.

Soon after that, the video shows the man reach for the register, open it and take two rows of cash. The worker said she was in disbelief

"She grabbed him when he came around the corner because she didn't believe him and that he seemed very nervous," Power said.

The worker dialed 911 as fast as she good and took off after him.

Lieutenant Small advised if anyone finds themselves in this situation at work or at home, to do what you feel is right and know what your capabilities are.

"Try to stay calm and do what you can because we want them to become a good witness," Lieutenant Small added.

The Dominos worker did just that. Lieutenant Small explained she is the reason they know the man took off in a dark four door car.

Although the man only got away with about $120, the general manager knows it could have been a lot worse. They have made changes to make sure this never happens again.

Power said they will now keep the carry out door locked at night and there will no longer be anyone working alone.

"She followed him to try and get anymore information and if she had followed him outside and something happened to her outside we wouldn't have been able to see it on video because there are no cameras outside."

The man was described as white, and approximately 6 feet tall.

If you know anything about this robbery or if you think this man in the picture looks familiar in any way, you are urged to call the Conway Police Department at (843) 248-1790 or (843) 488-1790.
