CONWAY, S.C. (WMBF) - Castal Carolina lifted the curtain on the 2014 season Thursday afternoon by getting out on the practice field for the first time since the spring. The team will practice for the next month before August 30th's season opener at The Citadel.
Coastal Carolina is picked to win the Big South Conference, and looks to follow up on a 12-2 season from last that ended with an appearance in the National FCS Quarterfinals.
There is a difference between summer conditioning and putting on the pads to play, but the team is up for the task.
"Our Strength and Conditioning coach got us bigger, faster, stronger, and that's going to apply to the football field and work out great," said preseason All-American lineman Chad Hamilton.
"We're going to start to pick up the tempo a little bit and we won't hit much (at first)," said head coach Joe Moglia. "But our pace in practice is going to be very real. And the objective again is to keep our guys healthy and to demonstrate some progress on a weekly basis."
