LAKE CITY, SC (WMBF) – A train crashed into a tractor-trailer in Lake City early Monday morning; no injuries were reported, and the scene is now clear.

The train engine collided with the trailer at about 2 a.m. at the railroad crossing at Thomas Street and Acline Avenue, according to Captain Kenny Sauls with the Lake City Fire Department. The collision busted the trailer in half, he said.

Lake City Police have interviewed a person of interest in connection with the incident, officials said.

The truck itself is independently owned, and the trailer is owned by Carlton Trucking, according to Lake City Police officer John Kelly.

A crew of about 11 people from the Lake City Fire Department responded, Captain Sauls said.

Stay tuned for more information when it becomes available.
