Company plans to solicit areas in North Myrtle Beach

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Representatives with Vivint, sellers of home security systems, intends to be in North Myrtle Beach August 1 through August 31 for the purpose of door to door solicitations.

Vivint said they would not solicit at any homes or condos that are posted with signs indicating "no solicitation" or "no trespassing."

Door to door selling is a constitutionally protected form of free speech and the City cannot prohibit it.

However, property owners or renters can elect to not receive this form of free speech and can post their individual properties as "no solicitation" or "no trespassing."

The City of North Myrtle Beach does not solicit door to door under any circumstances. Should someone knock on your door and claim to be a representative of the City soliciting for some cause or asking you to provide your personal information to them, call Public Safety at (843) 280-5511.
