ATLANTIC BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Gov. Haley will meet with Atlantic Beach town officials to discuss the Atlantic Beach Bikefest.
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 29 at the Atlantic Beach Community Center, located on 32nd Avenue South. The meeting is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
The meeting comes nearly two months after the governor vowed to sit down with officials and discuss the event.
Three people were killed and several more were injured in several shootings around the Myrtle Beach area over the 2014 Memorial Day weekend. Shortly after the event, Gov. Haley spoke out against Bikefest, and demanded an end to the annual gathering of sports bike enthusiasts.
After Gov. Haley offered to help the town financially if they canceled the event, Atlantic Beach Major Jake Evans stood by Bikefest, saying it was about more than money.
