Hartsville leaders renovate Teen Center at Boys and Girls Club

HARTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - The grand opening for the newly-renovated Teen Center at the Hartsville Boys and Girls club is Thursday at 4 p.m.

The renovations came to fruition with the support of One Hartsville; a committee formed to invest in local programs and services to improve the lives of and create future opportunities and exposure for youth in the community. One Hartsville consists of a five person team that includes, Natalie Zeigler of the City of Hartsville, Dick Puffer of Byerly Foundation, Mindy Taylor of Duke Energy Progress, Jim Morris of the University of South Carolina and Rainey Knight, the former Superintendent of Darlington Co. They partnered with other community organizations and businesses to financially support the renovation of the teen center.

In addition to the refurbished center, there will be a summer youth program at the center, designed to expose youth to banking, financial literacy, career opportunities, bullying prevention strategies, nutrition, pregnancy prevention and the arts.

The Hartsville Boys and Girls Club is located on 1103 South 6th Street.
