Sheriff's office investigating Lumberton man found dead outside home

LUMBERTON, NC (WMBF) – A Lumberton woman found her husband dead at the doorstep of their home early Tuesday morning. The Robeson County Sheriff's Office is investigating.

At about 1:14 a.m., Charlotte Mendoza, of Harlie Road, in Lumberton, NC, found her husband, Oscar Mendoza, lying on the ground at the doorsteps of their home, according to a news release from the Robeson County Sheriff's Office. He was cold, and was bleeding from his head, nose, and mouth.

When deputies arrived at the scene, Oscar Mendoza was dead. The cause of death is currently unknown, pending an autopsy.

Oscar Mendoza's death is being investigated by the Homicide and Major Crimes divisions, and no arrests have yet been made.

    A threat was discovered written on a bathroom wall at Conway High School, according to a post on the school’s Facebook page. The threat was “a derogatory statement about a teacher,” and was investigated by school officials and law enforcement.
