CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – The planned closure of the backgate intersection overnight Tuesday was delayed due to wet road conditions, according to Horry County Spokeswoman Lisa Bourcier.
The backgate intersection was scheduled to be closed overnight on July 22 and July 23, she said, but crews plan to attempt the road work Wednesday and Thursday night.
Contractors are scheduled to strip the remaining overhang brackets, remove the remaining traffic protection and perform the asphalt build-up Wednesday and Thursday nights from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m., weather permitting.
During this time period, drivers will be able to travel north and southbound on US 17 Bypass; however, no left turns will be allowed from US 17 Bypass at the intersection of SC 707 and Farrow Parkway.
Drivers traveling on SC 707 and Farrow Parkway, when approaching the intersection, will not be allowed to travel through the intersection or make left turns.
Only right turns will be allowed off of SC 707 and Farrow Parkway onto US 17 Bypass.
