FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - A Florence man has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography.
United States Attorney Bill Nettles stated that Andrew Stephen Jackson, 44, has entered a guilty plea in a federal court in Florence on Monday, July 21. U.S. District Judge R. Bryan Harwell accepted the guilty plea and will enforce sentence after the pre-sentence report is reviewed. The U.S. Probation Office will prepare that report.
At the change of plea hearing, evidence was presented that Jackson traded child pornography with an individual in Australia in October of 2010. A search warrant was executed at Jackson's home, which resulted in thousands of images of child porn being found on Jackson's computers.
Nettles said that the maximum punishment for this crime is 10 years and/or a fine of $250,000. Agents of the FBI investigated the case. Assistant US Attorney William E Day, II is prosecuting the case.
