16-year-old charged with attempted murder in Bennettsville

BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - A 16-year-old boy is being charged as an adult for attempted murder after shooting a 17-year-old boy Saturday morning on Miles Street in Bennettsville, SC.

The 16-year-old shot the victim in the left side of the stomach. The victim suffered from minor injuries and was released from the hospital the same day, according to Lieutenant Larry Turner with the Bennettsville Police Department.

The 16-year-old boy is being held at the SC Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia because of his age, Turner added.

The incident is still under investigation.
