MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Whether you're looking for a quick and healthy bite or to dive into a burger, there are a ton of Grand Strand places you can go. Two restaurants featured on Restaurant Scorecard are completely different restaurants and got very different reviews from DHEC.
Kind Belly is the new spot on the block in Myrtle Beach.
"We do smoothies, salads, wraps and a couple of breakfast items," Hannah Singleton said. Singleton partly owns the family-owned restaurant. It prides itself on serving healthy food made fast.
"We try to get you in and out, so you can continue on with your work day and feel good about it," Singleton added.
When it comes to Kind Belly - clean eating and a clean restaurant go hand in hand.
DHEC stopped into the cafe and scored it a perfect score of 100, an A rating. View its report, here.
It wasn't all As for Myrtle Beach restaurants, Rock Burger scored an 82, which is a B.
DHEC cited the Kings Highway restaurant for about a dozen issues.
A dirty ice machine, microwave, can opener, mop sink, are only some that made the list.
Plus, the dish machine was not cleaning correctly, and some food was being cooked at the wrong temperature, both of which can be harmful to your health.
The Department of Health also noted the A/C unit was not secure, and bugs could sneak in the restaurant.
One local business owner told me, he only sees the burger bar busy on weekends, but he has never been by to give it a try.
WMBF News reached out to Rock Burger several times but did not get a response. Click here to view the burger joint's report card.
Levelz Bar located on 9th Avenue also earned a grade A. To view its detailed report, click here.
The grade A streak is broken when Hard Rock Cafe earned a B. Points were docked when inspectors found there was no soap or paper towels at several hand sinks.
