MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A local man traveled to Houston, Texas to complete the Donate Life Transplant Games of America and has returned home with three medals.

Dennis Murphy won two medals in ballroom dancing where he performed the Carolina Shag swing dance and one in Golf. LifePoint and Donate Life South Carolina sent a group of 40 participants who are either transplant recipients, living donors, family members or supporters to represent Team SC.

The Donate Life Transplant Games of America is a multi-sport festival that celebrates organ, eye, and tissue donation and it lasted from July 11-15, 2014. Competitions include track and field events, swimming, cycling, volleyball, bowling, basketball and four new non-traditional events, ballroom dancing, corn hole (bean bag toss), Texas Hold-em Poker, a trivia challenge, and a public 5K Run/Walk will launch the event to promote the need for more organ donors. Not only is this an athletic event but it also promotes the significance of organ donations.
