No motivation to clean? There's an app for that

It's a never-ending part of life, cleaning. But instead of procrastinating, there's an app for that. It's a never-ending part of life, cleaning. But instead of procrastinating, there's an app for that.

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - It's a never-ending part of life, cleaning. But instead of procrastinating, there's an app for that.

Sometimes we all need a little push. We are all guilty of turning on the TV instead of the vacuum.

Here's some helpful smartphone apps that will help you break that routine.

One helpful app is called Chore Checklist. It is as easy and no-frills as it sounds - just a task-manger.

The user fills out the daily and weekly routines and it sends out reminders with a list to check off when cleaning is finished. It's free for Apple and Android users.

Another one is BrightNest. This neat app is also free for Apple users. It, too, lets users create a platform for setting and managing household chores. But it also gives access to thousands of articles on cleaning, organizing, do-it-yourself projects and even design tips.

Getting kids to vacuum, walk the dog, even take out the trash can be like pulling teeth. That's where Chore Monster comes in. It's designed specifically for you and your kids. Chore Monster let's kids earn points for rewards. The more chores they do, the more points they earn and the bigger reward they can get, like ice cream or going to the mall.

Chore Monster is similar to Chorma, it's an app for Apple users meant for roommates, couples and kids. It synchronizes between devices so it coordinates who does what chores. In a group or family, users can organize a group activity like a meal out when they earn enough points. With roommates, whoever does the most chores pays less on rent, or maybe a night out.

Of course some say you shouldn't need a smartphone app to help you clean. And maybe you don't but giving kids a challenge with something rewarding they want might be worth it.

Users say it makes it easier to use cleaning apps, and motivates them to get the job done before rewarding with TV or computer time. Plus the reward of living in a clean house day in and day out.

For people looking to find an app to make cleaning products at home, Green Shine is one choice. It's website says the application helps users replace almost the full range of commercial cleaners with gentle, environmentally friendly, healthier and safer homemade alternatives.
