NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The South Atlantic Lifesaving Association is hosting a regional competition in North Myrtle Beach.

The competition attracts lifeguards from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia Beach to the Grand Strand.

Lifeguards from as far north as Virginia Beach, VA and as far south as Pointe Verde Beach, FL are in town for the event.

"Each year you get a new batch of lifeguards but its amazing to see how each year each agency brings the same morals and performance. and it just reflects on how the organization handles as a whole," Edmund Kennedy said. He's competing from North Carolina.

The event lasts through Thursday and is taking place near Main Street in North Myrtle Beach.

The events are meant to showcase all of the skills lifeguards need on a daily basis.
