RAEFORD, N.C. (AP) - The Hoke County Sheriff's Office says two inmates in the detention center are accused of assaulting two jailers last weekend.

The Fayetteville Observer reports (http://bit.ly/1neN2en) a statement from the sheriff's office says 25-year-old Ronald Ross Jr. and 19-year-old Keshandre Mickell McLean are charged with malicious conduct by a prisoner.

According to the sheriff's office, the two are accused of throwing fluids on the two jailers when they were collecting inmates' breakfast trays.

Ross was jailed in February on robbery-related charges when he and three others tried to rob a Raeford businessman. The businessman shot and killed one of the robbery suspects.

It was not immediately known why McLean was in jail.

Ross is being held under $35,000. McLean's bail is set at $25,000. It's not known if they have attorneys.
