FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A Florence man and woman were arrested Wednesday two months after they brought a six-week-old infant suffering seizures to the hospital; investigators allege the infant suffered non-accidental brain injuries consistent with trauma.
Bryan Austin Seidle, 22, and Rebekah Brianna Thomas, 19 were arrested Wednesday morning in connection with injuries to an infant, according to the Florence County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators allege that the six-week-old infant of the suspects was brought to an area hospital emergency department with seizures.
After medical testing, investigators determined that the infant suffered non-accidental subarachnoid hemorrhages to the brain consistent with trauma.
Following admission to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of the hospital, the infant's medical condition initially deteriorated requiring that the child be placed on a ventilator.
Seidle and Thomas will appear before a Florence County Magistrate Wednesday afternoon for consideration of bond.
The infant's condition improved over time and has since been released from the hospital.
