The shutdown is scheduled for Wednesday night. It starts at the Durham County line and ends just east of the I-85/Interstate 40 split.

A statement from NCDOT says crews will close I-85 South at the US 15/501 split, Exit 163. Nightly closures will take place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. If work is necessary on Friday and Saturday nights, the closures will be in effect from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Closures and detours will be advertised with overhead digital message signs on I-85, changeable message boards, and traffic control signing. Law enforcement will also be on-site to aid with traffic control.
