MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (WMBF) - Former St. James Shark and College of Charleston junior Gunnar Heidt is officially headed to the next level after he was drafted. He signed with the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Heidt was a 13th round pick for Toronto this summer. He helped take the Cougars to an NCAA Super Regional this season, and led the team with a .327 average this year, while driving in 30 runs and stealing 15 bases.

On Tuesday, Heidt tweeted: "@gunnarheidt2 packed up and shipping out tomorrow morning. Heading to Florida to start this long journey and excited to see what's next! Go Blue Jays!"

Heidt is the second Grand Strand product to sign after getting drafted this summer. Grant Holmes also signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers after being drafted 22nd overall. Heidt's high school teammate and South Carolina Gamecock Tanner English was also drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 11th round.
