ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) – Friends of a 50-year-old man, found dead in Robeson County, say they believe the death was intentional.

Bracie Terry Lowery was found Sunday afternoon, the county medical examiner confirmed. A homicide investigation has been opened by officials.

Friends say Lowery received his disability check just days before his body was found. They believe this had to be a robbery.

Officials say Lowery died sometime after 8 p.m. Saturday from a large incision wound in his neck, according to Robeson County Medical Examiner Dr. Richard Johnson. Someone slit Lowery's throat and he bled out, Dr. Johnson said.

Lowery's body was brought to the hospital Sunday afternoon, and the death is being investigated as a homicide.

The death has left many in shock since everyone on the street is either family or close friends.

Neighbors hope investigators kind the killer and make thier neighborhood safe again.
