Contract employee accused of stealing $2,800 from Walmart money bag

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A contract employee working at the Seaboard Street Walmart allegedly over $2,800 dollars from a money bag left next to register last month, according to a Myrtle Beach Police report.

Myrtle Beach police are looking for 19-year-old Sherman Jermaine Johnson, wanted for grand larceny, according to a news release from the department. J

According to the MBPD report, Johnson, while working as a contract employee from the Way To Go Company, was caught on camera taking money from a money bag left next to a register at about 5 a.m. on June 9. When the office staff picked up the bag and counted the money, it was determined that $2,865.13 was missing.

A Walmart employee reviewed video surveillance footage and saw Johnson take some of the cash out of the bag. The employee told police that Johnson was a contract employee and did not have any business handling money or the bags.

Johnson is described by police as a 5-foot-11-inch tall, 154-pound black male with brown eyes and black hair. His last known address is 222 Church St. in Mullins.
