DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) - The inaugural Freedom Fest will debut Friday at the Darlington Raceway.
The free, family-friendly event is hosted by the Darlington Chamber of Commerce as "a way to give back to the Darlington community," Quinetta Buterbaugh said. Buterbaugh is co-chair on the chamber board. She said the chamber wanted to host an event for free, so everyone could enjoy it.
Freedom Fest begins at 4 p.m. Friday, July 4. More than 5,000 people are expected to attend.
The event is free to the public.
Three musical acts including the John Curtis Willis Band, of Florence will open for Outshyne. Outshyne is a band from Laurens, SC.
Food vendors have fair-type food like turkey legs, hot dogs and fried Oreos.
Merchandise vendors will be in attendance selling apparel, jewelry and more.
The non-profit organization, Darlington Shares, will sell $5 tickets to ride in a NASCAR pace car. The non-profit filters the money back into the community, according to Buterbaugh.
The Darlington Raceway is located at 1301 Harry Byrd Hwy in Darlington.
