Here we go. Our first tropical disturbance is brewing off the coast and it will either fizzle out or give us a dose of rain and storms at the end of the week.
Although it is a very small system, when we have that first discussion of tropical weather it's a reminder that hurricane season is underway. That should remind all of us to think about your plan if we are in the path of a larger storm.
The flood zones recently changed and it is important that you Know Your Zone. Horry County Emergency Management has a helpful map that will show you if your home is in danger from a potential storm surge or rising water.
Also, make sure you have an evacuation plan. Waiting until the last minute is too late. Have a designated route and leave early. The best option is to follow the motto of the Boy Scouts… Be Prepared. The time to begin that preparation is now.
