15th Annual Guy Daniels Memorial Surf-Off comes back to Surfside Beach

The 15th Annual Guy Daniels Surf-off will be held on 13th Avenue South in Surfside Beach, SC. The 15th Annual Guy Daniels Surf-off will be held on 13th Avenue South in Surfside Beach, SC.

SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Get ready to ‘hang ten' for the 15th Annual Guy Daniels Memorial Surf-Off.

This yearly event is held as a part of the Guy Daniels Memorial Foundation. The surf-off honors the memory of Guy Daniels, a Surfside Beach resident who worked in a surf shop and as a lifeguard. He died in 1999 at 19 years old. The event has provided 52 local students with $55,000 in scholarships to Princeton, Appalachian State, Horry-Georgetown Technical College, Coastal Carolina and Daniels' Alma mater, the College of Charleston.

The surf-off is a two day event, scheduled for August 2nd and 3rd. The competitions will commence from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 13th Avenue South. Everyone is invited and all ages are encouraged to participate. Concessions will be free of charge to participants and for purchase to spectators.

There will be shortboard and longboard competitions, the kids "push-in" heat, a stand-up-paddleboard race and much more. There will also be opportunities to win raffles

A $25 entry fee includes one surfing event; There will be a $5 charge for each additional event. The deadline to enter is July 30.
