Man dies after son-in-law shoots gun in Lumberton

ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) - A man was shot by his son-in-law and later died in Lumberton.

Victor Garza was pronounced deceased when law enforcement arrived on the scene of the shooting Sunday, June 29, according to Capt. Anthony Thompson with the Robeson County Sheriff's Office.

The son-in-law reported Garza was trying to stab him when he shot Garza.

The cause of death has not been determined. An autopsy is being performed.

No arrests have been made.

The investigation is currently ongoing; however, it appears there had been a domestic dispute between the deceased and his wife earlier Sunday morning.

    A threat was discovered written on a bathroom wall at Conway High School, according to a post on the school’s Facebook page. The threat was “a derogatory statement about a teacher,” and was investigated by school officials and law enforcement.
