CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – Horry County libraries are now taking advantage of something their members are already doing: looking up and buying books online.
In March, the libraries started a new program with Amazon that will make more money for books, computers, and software.
The program works by a link that you can find on the library's home page. The link says "Buy it now" and will take you right to Amazon's main page. Once linked to the site you can shop like you normally would on the site.
A small portion of the proceeds from any purchase made will go to the library's endowment fund. The purchases don't have to be limited to books either.
"It's a good way to fund raise," said Jackie Angus, IT Coordinator for Horry County Libraries. "We've made $60 a month so far, but we're hoping to do better in the future.
The libraries say the donations may not be much, but every penny earned is a small and meaningful way to help out.
