Georgetown officials search for pistol-whipping suspect

GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) - A man is being hunted by officials after he hit another man in the head with a gun.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5'9", 160 pounds wearing a white shirt with white pants and armed with a handgun, according to Georgetown County Sheriff's Office officials.

The incident happened at around 4:15 p.m. Friday, according to Lt. Neil Johnson.

Georgetown County Sheriff's Deputies were in working in the Greentown area of Georgetown County on an unrelated case when a male, whose face was covered in blood, was observed walking on Player Road, according to a news release issued by GCSO.

The victim had been robbed and pistol-whipped, officials say.

After the robbery and assault occurred, the suspect ran into the woods off Player Road toward McDonald Road where it is believed he left the area in an unknown vehicle.

Anyone who has any information on the identity of the suspect, who may have witnessed the robbery, or has any information about the robbery is asked to call the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office at (843) 546-5102.
